The Positional Therapy for Sleep Apnea

Zzoma is an FDA-cleared positional medical device approved for the treatment of sleep apnea. Designed by board-certified sleep physicians, Zzoma has undergone rigorous clinical trial review and is now available by prescription only. Clinicians who diagnose patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea may prescribe Zzoma as a first line therapy or as an alternative for patients who cannot adjust to CPAP therapy. Patients who struggle to comply with CPAP devices may find Zzoma a more comfortable alternative to wearing a mask.

Here's how it Works

Step 1

Place device on your back. Bring straps around so they're in front of you.

Step 2

Position the device so the Velcro straps are at the level of your chest.

Step 3

Adjust the Velcro straps for fit and comfort and secure together.

Step 4

Lie on either side in a comfortable position and go to sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Zzoma Prescription Only?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the Zzoma Positional Device as prescription only because they would like patients to be diagnosed for positional sleep apnea before any purchase.

Can I travel with Zzoma?

Yes, Zzoma’s foam is less than 1 lbs. In addition to the wedge foam you receive a bladder that can be inflated and deflated for easy storage.

Are there different sizes?

One size fits most. Zzoma has adjustable Velcro® straps (general guidelines: min 100 lbs to 350 lbs). Fits up to 55-inch upper torso.

Are there different colors?

Zzoma only comes in black.

How do you roll from side to side?

Zzoma is a positioner worn on the back therefore by rolling on your stomach you can roll from side to side.

How do I wear Zzoma?

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat.

Are there different sizes?

Using Zzoma couldn’t be easier. Simply open up the Velcro® straps, position the “backpack” so it’s at your back and the straps are across your chest, and then reattach the Velcro® straps. The straps are easy to adjust, so you can find the right fit for your body. The device works best when worn over a T-shirt and can fit up to a 55-inch upper torso.

I am rolling around in Zzoma. It is coming off at night. What do I do?

You may be wearing Zzoma too low on your body: try wearing it right under your arms.  The higher up on your body the more effective it will be.  Additionally, try tightening the straps.  The side elastics will allow for easy breathing at night.

Is Zzoma comfortable?

Zzoma is very comfortable.  It is made of semi-rigid foam which allows sturdiness without discomfort.  Wearing Zzoma is like getting use to a new bed or pillow.

How long does it take for me to get use to sleeping with Zzoma?

Generally takes 2 weeks for patients to become accustomed to Zzoma.  However, your adjustment period will depend your previous sleeping habits.  If you were a frequent supine sleeper it will take longer for you to adjust to sleeping only on your side.  If you’ve always been comfortable sleeping on your side you will become accustomed to Zzoma much quicker.

Is Zzoma right for me?

Only your sleep physician can recognize if your sleep apnea is positional. If your sleep apnea or snoring is purely supine then Zzoma is the right treatment for you.

What is Zzoma made of?

Zzoma has a firm inner core made of foam. The outer part of the device is covered in nylon, and the part that touches your body is cotton covered with a coating of PVC dots that helps keep Zzoma in place while you sleep.

How do I clean my Zzoma?

To clean the outer fabric, simply unzip and then machine-wash it in cold water. The “Delicate” or “Hand Wash” setting is best.

What if my sleep apnea symptoms continue?

You may not have purely positional sleep apnea and therefore should contact your sleep physician.

An affordable and comfortable CPAP alternative

Although continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy is an effective treatment for positional OSA, up to 50% of CPAP users use it incorrectly on a daily basis1—citing problems like claustrophobia, mask discomfort, inability to tolerate the air pressure and/or side effects such as nasal congestion or eye irritation. In a multi-center clinical study1 of patients with positional OSA, Zzoma was found to be just as effective as CPAP therapy while allowing you to sleep comfortable on your own pillow with no mask or skin irritation. Zzoma is also an affordable alternative to CPAP therapy.
