There are a variety of sleep disorders that are classified as a form of insomnia. This type of sleep disorder involves the inability to fall asleep or stay asleep.
Insomnia
The most common sleep complaint occurs when you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or do not feel refreshed in the morning. Daytime fatigue and other effects of insomnia can impact nearly every aspect of your life.
Short Sleeper
A short sleeper can function normally during the day with a very small amount of sleep. Short sleepers may sleep five hours or less, and wake up feeling alert and refreshed.
Child Insomnia
Many children have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep throughout the night. Other children do not get the sleep that they need because they refuse to go to bed, stall or make it difficult for parents to leave the bedside.
